Getting started

How to ride

Step 1

Locate a Beam

Download the Beam app and find an e-scooter nearby on the app.

STEP 2

Unlock it

Scan QR code on handlebar to unlock the e-scooter and follow the instructions on the app.

STEP 3

Safety First

Check all equipment, including the brakes, and wear a helmet before you ride.

STEP 4

Start riding

Push off on the e-scooter to get it moving, then press the ‘Go’ button gently.

STEP 5

To slow down & stop

Release ‘Go’ button gently to reduce your speed or pull firmly on the brake levers on the handlebar.

STEP 6

End of trip

Park at designated parking spots  or find a safe place on the footpath away from pedestrians.

And, place the e-scooter back on its kickstand before ending the trip.

Fold the kickstand up before sitting on the e-moped.
To ride, twist down the right handlebar gently.

STEP 5

Slow down & stop

Release right handlebar to reduce your speed or pull firmly on the brake levers on the handlebar.

STEP 6

End of trip

Park at designated parking spots  or find a safe place on the footpath away from pedestrians.

And, place the e-moped back on its kickstand before ending the trip.

Where to ride

Operating Zone

Beam can be used in this zone up to the maximum regulated speed.

Slow Zone

E-scooters automatically slow down to the set speed – usually 10km/h for crowded areas with pedestrians and/or
on-street dining.

No Parking Zone

Rider cannot park in these zones (eg. near water bodies & areas that may pose safety hazards)

No Go Zone

This is a no riding zone for Beam vehicles. Here you won’t be able to ride, or park.

Parking Spots

Specific parking spots at key locations to ensure scooters are available where and when they’re needed! Riders will also receive a discount for ending their trips here.

Booster Spots

We create a virtual parking spot near Beam Booster stores, to allow you to park Beam e-scooters and redeem your freebie or discount.

Notice of Fine Imposition Areas 

Illegal Parking - Max Fine 1,000,000KRW

As of September 15, 2024, the "Transportation Vulnerable Mobility Enhancement Act (교통약자의 이동편의 증진법)" has been amended, and a fine of 1,000,000 KRW (max) could be imposed on e-scooters and bicycles parked in the areas listed below.

Tactile Paths

Parking on tactile paving blocks, obstructing the use of sidewalks for individuals with disabilities.

Disability-esclusive Parking Areas

Parking in front of, behind, on either side of, or in the driveway of designated parking spaces for disability, thereby obstructing the use of disability-exclusive parking areas.

Notice on e-scooter towing charges

E-scooters that are parked in a towing area designated by the local government may be towed. The towing fee will be charged to the rider. To avoid towing charges and for the safety of others, do not park in the tow zones listed below:
