[23 February 2023] We are honoured to have been invited to Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB)’s Car Free Day during the Karnival Maju Johor. Last Saturday, on February 18th, Beam Mobility had the opportunity to demonstrate the use of e-scooters to the members of the city council and residents of Johor Bahru.
To ensure the safety of the residents during the Car Free Day event, MBJB had closed a considerable length of roads to make way for residents to enjoy a variety of zero-carbon-emission activities such as cycling, rollerblading, skateboarding, and e-scooter rides while making a positive impact on the environment and our community.
Curious event goers visited Beam Mobility’s booth to learn more about the sustainability and functionality of the e-scooters. We took them through the Beam app installation step-by-step, riding rules and how to park the e-scooters. By the end of the event, residents will have a better understanding of how e-scooters work and gain confidence in riding one.
“We are honored to have had the opportunity to demonstrate the possibilities that the e-scooter can offer to ease travels here,” said Justin Tiew, General Manager of Beam Mobility Malaysia.
“With the functionalities that the Beam e-scooters can offer, we are confident that we can reduce the traffic on roads to make the city flow better. We hope to be given the opportunity to conduct a trial run of Beam e-scooters on the streets of Johor and showcase the potential benefits of e-scooters in promoting the use of public transport and creating a healthier environment for both residents and traffic in the city,” added Justin.
With a 50km range on a fully charged battery and a top speed of 25 km/h, the e-scooters are perfect for getting around the city. The Beam e-scooters are powered by electricity which will help reduce carbon footprint and promote a greener environment in the city.
“Our e-scooter parts are all modular and exchangeable. This features handlebars, batteries, motors, and tyres,” said Taty Azman, Head of Public Affairs at Beam Mobility Malaysia.
“Unless deemed irreparably broken, Beam never throws away any parts. When parts need to be disposed of, we work with local recycling and waste disposal authorities to help with the disposal,” Taty emphasised.
We hope that this demonstration gave more insight into the benefits and uses of e-scooters. We look forward to continued collaborative discussions with the City to forge a long-term partnership.
We love working together with local partners who see a potential use of Beam in your area or local community. For partnership opportunities, connect with Beam at partnerships@ridebeam.com.
Regardless of whether it is to get to work or to play, riders can find the closest Beam e-scooter near you by downloading the app via the Apple Store or Google Play Store!
